ArtHouse is a new modern student community for Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) on the North Park Blocks in the arts-focused Pearl District. The building will operate as art on different scales: from building as art, to spaces that showcase art, to places to make art.

ArtHouse includes a mix of studios, two-, and three-bedroom layouts with both private and shared bedrooms in 50 unique apartments. The building has a lobby that doubles as a gallery and event space with direct access to a community room, outdoor rain garden, sun deck and a generous bike room. ArtHouse also houses two retail shops and an office for management and residential services on the ground floor.

The first floor of the building is the PNCA leasing office and doubles as a lobby and gallery space. This area includes three retail spaces and a restaurant. This project was a fast track split-permit process with the City of Portland. Scope of work included coordination of design and build mechanical, plumbing, electrical and fire sprinklers. WALSH also provided value engineering options totaling $290,000 of which $194,000 were taken, on a $6.7 million dollar project, resulting in a construction cost reduction of 3%.

Arthouse achieved LEED New Construction Silver Certification. Green elements on the job include low-flow plumbing fixtures, recycling of construction debris, low-VOC paints and adhesives, optimizes energy performance, material with recycled content, alternative transportation and green power.

ArtHouse provides a venue for art and community in various capacities. It showcases art, and houses students who create art, all while being artistically beautiful in its design.
