Pacific University – Berglund Hall
Pacific University’s Berglund Hall is a $12 million concrete and steel-framed building totaling 42,285 SW on two floors and a partial lower level.
A roof redesign occurred during the course of construction; in spite of this challenge the project was completed on time.
Incorporating extensive green building measures, the project achieved Gold certification under the LEED program. In addition, five trees on-site that were removed to make space for the building were reused in the building itself. Painstaking care was taken by WALSH to mill the wood and transform it into high-end finishes for the building including wainscoting, windowsills, banisters and trim. WALSH crews also handcrafted a gazebo outside Berglund Hall, as well as beautiful benches within the building. Perhaps the most beautiful piece incorporating the trees is a large, handcrafted conference table, which was designed and built by WALSH crews off-site, then carefully transported to Forest Grove, where it was carefully set in place.
