The award-winning Loyola Jesuit Center is a serenely beautiful retreat and education center on a thickly wooded six-acre site, protected from the noise and bustle outside the grounds. The compound has permanent residence units for 30 Jesuits as well as guest-residence space, a dining facility with commercial kitchen, a 50-seat chapel and a moderately large meeting space. The Center sits adjacent to the Novitiate and the St. Ignatius School and Church in Northeast Portland. All structures are wood frame and surrounded by reflecting pools, walkways and secluded benches for contemplation. Loyola Jesuit received an Honor Award for Craftsmanship from the American Institute of Architects, Oregon Chapter.
