Cottage Grove Commons provides stability for residents, a sustainable environment, and opportunities for local businesses that serve the Delridge community. The four-story building is built to Washington Evergreen standards and includes permanent housing and round the clock services for men and women living with mental/addictive illnesses or other disabling conditions. Wood frame housing on floors 2 through 4 has 66 studio units, over a first floor of concrete and masonry construction used for commercial space, offices and residential common areas. The building includes underground parking for 14 vehicles. A co-op grocery and professional offices on the first floor add neighborhood services.

A major challenge of this project involved construction in the middle of a dense residential neighborhood, with limited site access. WCC’s logistics plan included protection of an 80-foot cedar tree anchoring the courtyard on the southwest side of the building. The courtyard includes a raingarden that receives storm drainage from the roof.
