Affronting 13th Avenue, the existing dock became an outdoor dining area where a new storefront system with large sliding door panels opens the interior to the exterior truck dock. The storefront along 13th Avenue also allows pedestrians a view into the restaurant activity, and brings light deep into the restaurant space. Two ceramic tile walls with large porthole windows break the rhythm of the storefront to give the elevation proportion and scale, help to obscure new seismic braces added to strengthen the building’s structure, and to emphasize the restaurant’s seafood focus.

Materials such as metal siding and roofs were selected to respect the building’s historic nature. A muted palette of yellows, beiges, and grays were incorporated into the exterior so as to correlate well with the existing brick. Other unique features include a zinc bar top and hickory paneling.
