OWCB Breaks Ground on The Jade Affordable Housing

Congratulations to ROSE Community Development and Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon – APANO on the ground-breaking of The Jade Affordable Apartments designed by SERA Architects! The Jade will combine transit-oriented affordable housing and a multi-cultural community center in a walkable and accessible location for housing and community residents. O’Neill/WALSH Community Builders, LLC (OWCB) will manage the construction portion. OWCB, created in August 2011, is a formal partnership between O’Neill Construction Group, a registered MWESB firm, and Walsh Construction Co. It was a great turn-out for the event!

Food for Thought Fundraiser for St Mary’s Academy

WALSH celebrated at the 24th annual Food for Thought luncheon benefiting tuition assistance for students of St Mary’s Academy. Food for Thought is St. Mary’s largest fundraiser in support of tuition assistance. For the 2017-18 school year, over 40% of St. Mary’s Academy families will receive over $1.8 million in tuition assistance. Raising money for tuition assistance is at the core of St. Mary’s mission to provide an outstanding, all-female, Catholic, college-preparatory education to young women of many backgrounds.

Excited to Break Ground on the Woody Guthrie Affordable Housing Project!

So excited to break ground with ROSE Community Development and Carleton Hart Architecture PC on the Woody Guthrie Place Apartments this morning! It was exciting to share in this moment with project partners including, Prosper Portland, Portland Housing Bureau, Metro, Multnomah County Health Department, Multnomah County, Oregon, and Home Forward! This community building project is designed to LEED for Homes Gold and will provide 64 units of affordable housing in the Lents community of Portland!

Windows Rule!

Last week Walsh Quality conducted in-house training on window installations for our RDF crews and Walsh employees. Technical and hands-on training provided all with an understanding of why the design, manufacturer’s instructions, and execution of window installations is so critical to every building. Thanks to all those who helped make the day a success!

The eight mockup wall sections completed by our crews will live on! They were designed so that they could be utilized as components for future Tiny Houses. The completed Tiny House buildings will soon be moved to a community site, where they will provide safe, secure and comfortable dwellings for a homeless individual, couple or family.
