OWCB Breaks Ground on Asian Health and Service Center

Asian Health & Service Center broke ground this past Saturday! Official groundbreaking ceremony was held at 9035 SE Foster Rd starting at 10am. Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler was in attendance and to celebrate this exciting moment for the Lents community.

OWCB is the general contractor on this project, a joint venture with O’Neill Electric Inc. and Walsh Construction Co, our FIFTH successful community project since our inception in August of 2011.

O’Neill/Walsh Community Builders (OWCB) is excited to be working with The Asian Health & Service Center  which is planning a new three-story, 30,000 SF office building at the northwest corner of Southeast 91st Avenue and Southeast Foster Road.

The new building will allow the agency to offer more classes and meet community medical needs and a third-floor, 6,000 SF community room with a large kitchen will be available to community members.

Asian Health and Service Center (AHSC) is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) organization that has served the Portland metro region since 1983. The mission of AHSC is to be the bridge between Asian and American culture and build a harmonious community. Our vision is to reduce health inequity and improve healthcare quality for all Asians.

AHSC offers a continuum of social and support services in a culturally sensitive setting by reaching out to Asian immigrants, reacquainting them with the arts and culture of their homeland, providing opportunities for socializing, and fostering a sense of community. Our culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate community outreach includes our popular Ethnic Outreach & Meal Service Program for seniors and our Information Assistance Program.
