Julian Hotel Receives Another Historic Award!

Congratulations to the Julian Hotel team on the Historic Preservation Award presented in Corvallis, Oregon on May 19! City of Corvallis Mayor Biff Traber presented Historic Preservation Certificates of Merit to Northwest Housing Alternatives, Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services and Carleton Hart Architecture PC in the Sensitive Rehabilitation category for the 1892 Julian Hotel. Traber stated that the award honored “all of the project partners in their significant efforts to save and restore the historic Julian Hotel with renewed life, preserving a vital presence within our downtown for years to come.”

The Hotel Julian has been a treasured part of Corvallis history since its establishment in the 1880s and its conversion to a place of affordable housing for our elderly and disabled community members is integral to the character of Corvallis. We were honored to be a part of this community-enhancing project and want to congratulate all of our project partners and our WALSH team members Aaron Elliott, Lane Lehrke and Caitlin Kelley!

WALSH Seattle and Rebuilding Together South Sound

Over 20 WALSH Seattle employees were excited to support this year’s Rebuilding Together South Sound ‪#‎RebuildingDay‬ on Saturday, April 30th. This year we assisted Margaret. For years she had worked as an in-home caregiver but is now dependent on a wheelchair/scooter to move around. Her current home is not ADA accessible, adding to the extreme complications and difficulties of her everyday activities. Thanks to Rebuilding Together South Sound and our team’s hard work and resources on Rebuilding Day, her quality of life will increase and she will be able to achieve more independence. Thanks to everyone for their hard work and for their commitment to Building Community.

Bring Your Child to Work Day

WALSH was excited to host 28 children at its Take Your Child to Work Day on April 28th! Sons, daughters, nieces and nephews of our employees built and painted bird houses, toured the office, checked out construction equipment and learned more about what their parents do for work on a day-to-day basis.

After lunch, the parents and their children headed onsite to take a tour of The Abigail, an affordable housing project currently wrapping up construction in the Pearl District. It was a great learning experience, and an exciting day, for all involved! Thanks to Shelly Stephenson and Arielle Kornelussen for organizing and managing the fun and education!
