Renovation project starts at Pacific University
Construction will begin in May on a new look for the University Center at Pacific University. The renovation is one of several projects under way at the Forest Grove campus.
The two-story University Center building, originally constructed in 1963, is considered outdated for the university’s plans for growth. The building needs cosmetic updating and greater accessibility, said Joe Lang, Pacific University’s media relations director.

WALSH Breaks Ground on Anthem on 12th
Walsh Construction Co. and Spectrum Development Solutions broke ground this week on Anthem on 12th, located on 12th Ave and East Yesler Way. Anthem on 12th will be the first private development of the larger Yesler Terrace neighborhood revitalization. The six-story 118,000 square foot transit-oriented residential project consists of 120 apartments with 4,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space.
Pacific University Groundbreaking Video
The 60,000 SF new residence hall at Pacific University is successfully under construction by WALSH and Mahlum Architects and will be the third new residence hall built on the Forest Grove campus since 2006.

Sealant Adhesion & Compatibility Study
Sealant Adhesion & Compatibility Study presented at the Seattle BEC Meeting by WALSH Quality Manager, Sharon Libby.
This presentation explained how this sealant adhesion and compatibility study was conceived and executed and will also provide conclusions about the observed reactions between many different substrates and sealants. This study was executed by the WALSH Quality Department to determine the varying levels of adhesion between commonly specified sealants and substrates (including weather resistive barriers, self adhered membranes, liquid applied membranes and cladding components including brick, fiber cement cladding and various window materials.

Renovation of Powell’s City of Books
PORTLAND — Powell’s City of Books is getting a face lift at just 42 years old. It’s a new chapter for one of the city’s most important icons. Over the years, Powell’s has been upgrading various parts of the book block at Northwest 10th Street and West Burnside Street. The latest phase, currently underway, will be the last and one of the largest phases in this decades-long upgrade.
OWCB Success on Portland Community College Southeast Center Campus
At the Southeast Center, being successfully completed by OWCB (including a successful parternship between Walsh Construction Co., O’Neill Electric and Inline Construction) the new Student Commons building opened this week. The campus also is gaining a new library and a major remodel of the historic 1911 German-American Society building. The $36 million project is doubling the size of the Southeast Center and is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic development in Southeast Portland.
