Solid Ground Celebrates Additional Housing at Sand Point Campus

Walsh Construction Co. was honored to work with Seattle nonprofit developer Solid Ground on the successful completion of their new housing at the Sand Point Housing Campus. On Wednesday, May 21st, community leaders and supporters gathered at Solid Ground’s Sand Point campus to dedicate their two newest buildings of 175 units of housing for formerly homeless people and to celebrate 40+ years of action, innovation, and partnership in King County.

Located in beautiful Magnuson Park, Solid Ground helped to convert decommissioned Navy buildings into housing units for homeless people. They’ve helped provide the case management and other services Sand Point residents need to achieve stability, security and confidence to improve their lives. Since 1999, more than 2,000 people have stayed at Sand Point in their journey from homelessness to stability. They also host several youth programs on site: Friends of Youth New Ground, YouthCare Passages and YouthCare Pathways. With planned construction now complete, they are able to provide almost 200 units of housing and help more than 175 individuals and more than 250 children.
